Overview

Rapid Metro is a fully elevated rapid transit system for the commuters and citizens of Gurugram, Haryana. This system provides a transport solution for areas in and around Cyber City, DLF Phase 2,DLF Phase 3, NH-8 & Golf Course Road up to Sector 55-56 Gurugram and provides connectivity to Delhi Metro from Sikanderpur Station. Our aim is to provide a stress free, safe and comfortable journey to all our commuters in a pollution free and eco-friendly manner.

Gurugram has expanded significantly in the last few years resulting in a two-fold rise in population and a five-fold rise in the number of vehicles. Consequently, traffic congestion and pollution has soared and become a way of life. Keeping this in mind, Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) decided to develop a metro system.

Thus Rapid Metroprovides a speedier link from NH-8 via various hubs of Cyber City& Golf Course Road to the Sikanderpur Delhi Metro station, thereby reducing commuting time substantially.

The driving force behind Rapid Metro is Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services Limited (IL&FS), one of India’s leading infrastructure development and finance companies. IL&FS has a distinct mandate to catalyze the development of infrastructure in the country.

To execute the metro project IL&FS Rail Limited (IRL); formerly known as IERS; was founded in 2008.

Technology

•    Each train car is provided with four sets of electric bi-parting and sliding plug doors on both sides
•    The train draws power supply from third rail, equipped with 750 V DC
•    Ballast-less track & Flange lubrication system minimizes vibration, noise and air pollution
•    Train speed reduces automatically by ATP/ATC system on curves which further reduces sound during turning
•    Each coach is provided with roof mounted air conditioning system which controls temperature
•    Emergency fans ensure automatic ventilation in saloon
•    Train regenerates power and re-feeds the line during braking. Regenerative braking technology helps reduce carbon emissions and earns valuable carbon credits under UN's Clean Development Mechanism
